Anne Kraemer Diaz, Executive Director is an ethnographer currently completing her PhD in anthropology at the University of Kansas. Her research focuses on nongovernmental organizations and their impact in Guatemala specifically on Maya communities. She is a former Fulbright Scholar and holds a M.A. in Anthropological Archaeology. She speaks Spanish and Kaqchikel.








Peter Rohloff, Medical Director holds doctorates in pathobiology and medicine. He has been working in Guatemala since 2002 managing clinical programs. In Guatemala, his research interests include ethnomedicine, cultural revitalization, and resource-poor health care management. He speaks Spanish, Kaqchikel, and K’ichee’.








Anita Chary is an MD/PhD student in anthropology at Washington University. Her research interests include gender, lactation, and malnutrition. Anita coordinates all of Wuqu’ Kawoq’s ethnographic projects. She speaks Spanish and Kaqchikel.










Catarina Salas assists with our child nutrition programs in the Bocacosta. She speaks Spanish and K’ichee’, and holds a degree in social work from the University of San Carlos.












Claire Melvin earned her B.A. in anthropology from the University of Illinois. She coordinates many of our US-based fundraising initiatives.














Florencio Calí is a native of Tecpán. He oversees all in-country staff and runs our coordinated care services for patients with complicated medical needs. He speaks Spanish and Kaqchikel.












Herlinda Ic is a native of Tecpán and one of our nursing specialists. She coordinates women’s health and diabetes programs in the highlands. She speaks Spanish and Kaqchikel.












Jose Federico Calí is a native of Tecpán. He coordinates all of our child nutrition projects in the highlands and also administers our electronic medical record. He speaks Spanish and Kaqchikel.












Mayra Lacan assists with our child nutrition programs in the Bocacosta. She speaks Spanish and K’ichee’, and holds a degree in social work from the University of San Carlos.












Shom Dasgupta is a pediatrician and anthropologist at UCLA. He works closely with our child malnutrition and health promoter programs. He speaks Spanish and Kaqchikel.












Wicha Ixcajoc is our field manager in Pa K’in (Santiago Sacatepéquez), where she coordinates diabetes care and other special programs. She speaks Spanish and Kaqchikel.
