After over one year of writing and editing, Wuqu' Kawoq is proud to announce the publication of our first bilingual health manual, Tiqaq'omaj qi'. Written both in Kaqchikel and Spanish, it is intended to provide an introduction to traditional medicines and self-care remedies for common diseases. We will be using the book primarily in midwife training classes to facilitate discussions on the safe and effective use of plant-based remedies. However, it should have wide appeal and be useful to community health workers throughout the region.

Tiqaq'omaj qi' is one of the first books of its kind, a community health manual written entirely in an indigenous Mayan language. As such, we hope that it contributes to the continued vitality of these languages and their expanded use in all areas of public and private life.
