Karen is an entrepreneur focused on social impact and female empowerment. Experienced in management, operations and finance, she has a degree in Business Administration. As a strategic leader in the central highlands of Guatemala, she has spent the previous 10 years focused on community development in education.
She is an alumnus of the WEAmericas Program (Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Americas), which is part of the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs. Karen is the co-Funder of Asociación Nuestros Pasos, an organization devoted to community-based initiatives in education, that include rights-based campaigns, and sustainable tourism.
She serves as the Head of the Social Enterprise GlucoSalud; GlucoSalud is one of the first sustainable diabetes delivery and financing mechanisms developed in a low- and middle income country.
