Today two albañiles (contractors) from the community of Paya’ in San Juan Comalapa arrived in Tecpán to begin their training sessions on the construction of Biosand Filters. After completing their training, these men, with the help of other volunteers from the community, will complete and install on site one filter in each household.
This Biosand Filter project is just the latest in several recently completed by Wuqu’ Kawoq in different towns in central Guatemala.
Technical assistance has been provided for these projects by Engineers without Borders and the Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology.
A big thank you is especially due to ARCAID, who provided targeted funding for the Paya’ project.
